About Us

Started by a group of local people, when the building was threatened with closure in 1981, the organisation has operated the Tayside Institute Community Centre with the aim of contributing towards making Newburgh a happy and healthy community.

By providing provide activities and facilities for the community to enjoy, we hope to enhance the social, physical, and mental health of the community.

We moved to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) in February 2023, meaning a new legal structure with additional benefits and flexibility, allowing us to move forward with confidence. Yet the day to day workings of the Centre remain reassuringly the same!

The Centre is run by a voluntary Management Committee. The Management Committee are all from the local area and have given up some of their free time to manage the Centre for the benefit of local residents.
