Scarecrow Festival 2026

Judged from 10am Friday 19th June

The Scarecrow Festival is back! The theme this year is BOOKS

We'll be releasing details of how to register shortly but in the meantime your creations should be prepared for the 10am Friday 19th June ready for judging.

Maps will be available for £1 at the TICC office from Midday on Friday 19th June

Our volunteers are opening up the TICC Cafe on 11am til 2pm Saturday 20th June to serve our scarecrow hunters.

Registration and Entry Details

We're delighted to announce that the bale has been delivered and registration is now open!

If you haven't done it before here's a wee how to:

1) Register your entry at the TICC office by filling out our form. Registration is free if you can make your own scarecrow but if you want a suit to stuff and some straw we charge £3 to cover the costs.

2) If you've purchased a suit to stuff we suggest you dress it first! from experience we know that dressing a stuffed scarecrow is more of a challenge than stuffing a dressed one! Sometimes it's also easier to use the back of the hood for a face as you can hide the hole with hair/hats.

3) Bring your suit to the bottom of our garden on Gardens Road. The Bale of straw is located behind the shed. You can see it in the photos here and on our website. The bale is covered in a tarp to keep it dry, please remove this and replace making sure to tie it up again so it doesn't blow away.

4) Stuff your scarecrow with straw and take it home to put on the finishing touches.

5) Display your scarecrow in time for judging at 10am on Friday 19th June.

6) Come to the T.I.C.C. at 12pm on Saturday 20th June for the winner announcement and prize giving.

This event is part of a project supported by the Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults through Fife Voluntary Action and Scottish Government.

Scarecrow Festival 2024

The theme last year was CIRCUS and 'oh boy', did Newburgh do us proud!

The Scarecrows were out by 10am on Friday 21st June so our judge Andy Heer could get round to see them all. We had maps available at the TICC so everyone could have wee wander and see everyone's creations, and on Saturday 22nd June had lots of fun going on in the TICC and surrounding area.

Thank you to everyone who took part, volunteered their time stuffing the scarecrows, baked and manned stalls etc. Without you all mucking in this wouldn't have been possible!
